Floyd Mayweather Says 50-50 Chances Of MMA Fight By End Of 2018

Boxing Legend Floyd Mayweather who began teasing that he’s interested in trying his hand at MMA since last year.

He even solidified this past week that he will be applying for his MMA license and says he’ll soon begin training with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

In a recent interview with FightHype, where he said preparations for a potential MMA fight have begun:

“I started training already. Not the physical part – endurance, as far as moving around. So far, I’ve started running,” Mayweather said (Quotes via MMAjunkie).

“I’m thinking about fighting in the MMA, I’ve thought about it,” he continued. “I started training in Miami. I look forward to fighting probably by the end of the year. We don’t know. Right now it’s a 50-50 (chance), not a hundred percent. But we’ve started training.”

UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley claimed that he will be working with Mayweather train for a potential fight in the UFC. Undefeated boxer also said the two have already planned things, but now that appears to be a reality.

“Me and Woodley have spoke to each other on numerous occasions. We talked. We said we’re going to start working out, as far as he’s got a great hand game already,” Mayweather said.

“I’m going to be working with different guys in the jiu-jitsu world. My wrestling game, I’m going to be working with guys with the wrestling. My kicking game, I’m going to be working with guys for the kicking game. Before I get in the Octagon, I’ve got to be well rounded, all around the board.”

Mayweather 50-0, defeated UFC champ Conor McGregor by 10th-round TKO in their highly anticipated boxing match last August. He understands there’s at least some learning curve he’ll face in his MMA fight, it wouldn’t impact his boxing record.

I know right now I’m the biggest name in MMA, hands down,” claimed Mayweather. “I know this. And the second biggest name is Conor McGregor. I know this.

“It’s all about entertainment. I love having fun. The first two or three rounds, I wasn’t even doing anything, I was letting him do what he do. But in MMA it would be totally different because we don’t have no shoes on and with four ounce gloves on – you think I’m fast with eight ounce gloves on, imagine how fast I’d be with four ounce gloves on.”
