Finally, Marius Zaromskis vs. Waachiim Spiritwolf II is slated for Bellator 68

Alright Bjorn Rebney, you get a slow golf clap from me and the inner-fanboy that resides within me. I would like to think that you’ve heard my requests over the years and have sat quietly in your office pondering the thought of reassembling the 2010 Strikeforce fight of Marius Zaromskis vs. Waachiim Spiritwolf which was stopped early due to a ridiculous eye-poke from Zaromskis. The disappointment we all felt in the premature fight was probably that same gut feeling you had this past weekend after Melvin Manhoef vs. Yoshiyuki Nakanishi was ruled a no-contest due to an accidental injury.

If you’ve never witnessed a Waachiim Spiritwolf fight, just imagine a guy that is entirely fueled from the energy of his ancestors, hellbent on extracting blood from his opponent through exaggerated uppercuts and weapons made out of green plasma that appears from thin air. Actually, that’s a perfect description of ‘Nightwolf‘ from Mortal Kombat 3. I’m sure they know each other. It would even be safe to assume that Nightwolf and Spiritwolf are actually cousins that have sparred on a number of occasions. That would undoubtedly explain Waachiim’s superhuman-like chin. I guess when you’re repeatedly shot in the face by green magical arrows, your body builds a certain resistance to getting knocked unconsciousness.

We would love to give this fight more coverage, but as everyone in the MMA industry knows Bellator PR is incredibly hard to work with. We’re better off communicating them with smoke signals — something that would make Waachiim Spiritwolf’s ancestors beyond proud. However, something tells me you wouldn’t want to make them angry.

MMAJunkie reports the bout will go down at Bellator 68 on May 11th at the Palladium Ballroom in Caesars Atlantic City in New Jersey. Looks like I may have to extend my UFC on FOX trip to New Jersey just a few extra days to catch this bangemite fest.
