Fedor vs Rampage To Headline Cross-Promotion Card In Japan

Fedor Emelianenko will be taking on Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in Japan, this December. This bout will headline a massive cross-promotion event.

There were rumors that Bellator was looking to schedule Fedor vs Rampage for the end of the year. Moreover, it was being looked at as Fedor’s final bout in Japan, and Bellator’s debut there. Finally the wait is over, and the bout has been made official.

According to a press conference held by Bellator, the bout will take place at the Saitama Arena in Japan, on December 29th. The card will be a cross promotion event, featuring both Bellator and Rizin fighters. In addition to Fedor vs Rampage, it was announced that there would be three fights were Bellator fighters take on Rizin fighters.

In response to the announcement, Fedor Emelianenko had this to say:

“Nineteen years ago, I fought my first fight in Japan and ever since I have fallen in love with this country.

I’m very happy to return and fight in Japan in front of the most unique atmosphere that I’ve ever experienced. I’m very happy to be able to do so with my opponent—a friend and a fight comrade who I fought side to side with in the same time. I’m very excited to be able to put on a great fight. I will work hard and do my best to put on a beautiful performance for all of the Japanese fans.”

Fedor refers to Rampage as a friend, which is a sentiment that Jackson shares as well.

“I don’t know if you guys know, but Fedor is and has been for a long time my favorite fighter. It’s strange to have to fight someone that you look up to and that you admire so much, but I love fighting in Japan so I just wanted to come back here and fight. I’ll fight anyone they tell me too if they tell me that I’m fighting in Japan.”

Both Fedor Emelianenko and Rampage Jackson grew to fame by competing in Japan. To see both fighters return once again, after not fighting there for many years, will be quite the spectacle.
