Fedor Emelianenko Criticizes Khabib For UFC 229 Post Fight Brawl

Russian MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko Commented On Khabib, Conor Brawl At UFC 229

The biggest fight in the history of UFC is in the books now as Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor Mcgregor via fourth-round submission at UFC 229 last October. However, shortly after the fight, a brawl ensued which overshadow the shine of Khabib’s win.

Everybody in the MMA community reacted to this incident, but one legendary MMA star Fedor Emelianenko remained tight-lipped and didn’t want to address the issue immediately after the brawl.

But the former PRIDE champion who’s slated to meet Ryan Bader for the Bellator heavyweight belt this Saturday at Bellator 214, finally gives his opinion on the matter. Fedor acknowledges the heated rivalry between Mcgregor and Khabib but gives some thoughtful advice to ‘Eagle.’

“I had a heavy impression after what I saw,” Emelianenko said (h/t RT). ““It must have been an emotional response to what happened.”

“A professional should remain a professional, and not vent their emotions outside the cage,” he added.

Fedor Emelianenko is currently riding on a two-fight streak, most recently coming off a first-round knockout of former UFC stars Frank Mir and Chael Sonnen. Prior to that, ‘The Last Emperor’ suffered a knockout loss to Matt Mitrione.

Meanwhile, Khabib and Conor are awaiting further sanctions when they appear before Nevada State Athletic Commission for their actions at the event on January 29.
