“Free Joe Rogan” was chanted this weekend at UFC 271.
There is no denying it; UFC fans love Joe Rogan. He has been the voice of the UFC for 20+ years, and when he misses a big event, people can feel it. On Saturday, the crowd missed Rogan’s presence too.
“Free Joe Rogan”
Usually, during a sold-out UFC event, several things are chanted. Maybe it’s ‘USA!’ or the name of the fighter or ‘Boring!’ or ‘Woooooo’ or just an old fashion boo. At UFC 271, the crowd was changing “Free Joe Rogan.”
Twitter account @MMAFPress posted the clip.

The crowd was chanting “Free Joe Rogan” because of the long-time commentator’s absence from the event. It was reported during the week that Rogan had a scheduling conflict, and he could not work. After the event, UFC President Dana White said that report was bullshit and said Rogan just simply didn’t want to work but could have if he wanted to.
Rogan has been surrounded by controversy the last few weeks. It started with people accusing Rogan of dangerous misinformation regarding COVID-19, and then a horrible compilation came out of him using the “n-word.”
Many fighters and public figures came to his defense, including middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Last week at the UFC 271 press conference, Adesanya defended Rogan and told MiddleEasy, “Fu*k that noise.”
