- Ex-UFC fighter Cain Carrizosa was arrested after assaulting his girlfriend twice
- The lightweight pro-MMA fighter is now being held without bail
Former UFC lightweight fighter Cain Carrizosa has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend multiple times with the latest incident resulting in seizures.
Not once, but twice
According to multiple reports from various media outlets, including Bloody Elbow, the first incident took place on March 24, 2022 when Carizzosa, whose real name is Cain Castillo, assaulted his girlfriend following an argument.
She narrated to the arresting officers at the time that Castillo punched her at the back of her head while on her way to a car to get her purse. The punch “knocked her into the roadway” and the affidavit stated that Castillo then dragged her to the sidewalk and stole her cell phone before leaving the scene.
The report also noted that the victim was “disoriented with scrapes on her knees” and had seizures and lost consciousness while talking to the police.
On Jan. 1, 2023, police responded to another similar incident and noted that the victim was “convulsing and unresponsive” due to what they assumed was a result of head trauma from getting hit at the back of the head. The report stated that the victim “continued to seize off and on” while on the way to the hospital despite being attended by a team of medical staff.
Multiple charges
Carrizosa has been charged with two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of second-degree robbery, and one count of third-degree domestic violence in the presence of a child, according to MMA Junkie.
He was arrested on Sunday and is currently being held without bail in the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Carrizosa is scheduled to appear in court at the Fifth District Court of St. George on Wednesday.
Castillo was quoted by his arresting officers saying, “he is leaving the area and never coming back” once released.
Castillo, a.k.a. Carrizosa logged an 11-5 pro-MMA record. He fought under the UFC banner twice from 2014 to 2015. His last fight was at Fierce FC 18 where he lost to Josh Wick via TKO in the first round.
It’s been the second time UFC personalities have been involved in cases relating to assaulting women. Still, talked-about at the moment is UFC president Dana White’s infamous slapping incident with his wife on New Year’s Eve in a nightclub in Mexico.
