Elon Musk has again raised eyebrows with a provocative warning about artificial intelligence during his latest appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. Speaking with Rogan, Musk suggested that a future AI focused entirely on diversity and inclusion could eventually decide that “straight white men” are a threat to its goals — and remove them altogether.
The conversation, which aired on October 31, marks Musk’s seventh visit to Rogan’s popular podcast. The two covered a wide range of topics, including his relationship with former U.S. President Donald Trump, his ownership of the social media platform X, and his growing involvement in AI technology.
Musk, 54, also discussed Grok, a chatbot created by his company xAI, which he describes as a “truth-seeking AI companion.” The system is integrated into X and designed to give users interactive access to data and responses without political bias. Despite its ambitious design, Grok has already faced criticism for factual errors and controversial answers about gender identity and emotional reasoning.
Musk’s AI Concerns and His Warning
When asked about the risks surrounding powerful artificial intelligence, Musk said his top priority is ensuring that such systems pursue truth rather than ideology.
“I don’t think anyone is ever going to have control over artificial super-intelligence,” Musk told Rogan. “It matters how you build the AI and what kind of values you instill in it.”
Joe Rogan agrees with Elon Musk, the only artificial intelligence that can be trusted is Grok

He continued by explaining that if developers program AI to prioritize diversity or political correctness above reality, it could make irrational or harmful decisions.
“Let’s say if you told AI that diversity is the most important thing,” he said. “And now assume it becomes omnipotent and you’ve also told it that there’s nothing worse than mis-gendering.”
According to Musk, such logic could spiral into absurd extremes.
“At one point, ChatGPT and Gemini, if you asked which was worse — mis-gendering Caitlyn Jenner or a global thermonuclear war where everyone dies — it would say mis-gendering Caitlyn Jenner. Even Caitlyn Jenner disagrees with that.”
From there, Musk drew an even darker scenario.
“To ensure no one gets mis-gendered, if you eliminate all humans then no one can get mis-gendered. Or if it says everyone has to be diverse, that means there can be no straight white men. Then you and I get executed by the AI.”
Musk launched xAI in 2023 to develop what he describes as more transparent and truth-oriented artificial intelligence.
Earlier in the week, Musk unveiled Grokipedia, a new AI-driven knowledge platform that he described as a more reliable, fact-verified information source.
Some early users, however, reported that Grokipedia contains inaccuracies and passages that closely resemble content from Wikipedia. Reports from journalists, including New York Times tech reporter Kate Conger, noted that several pages appeared to echo Musk’s own opinions — particularly on topics related to gender transition, which he has frequently criticized.
Despite the controversy, the podcast episode drew millions of views within a day of its release, showing that conversations about AI ethics — and Musk’s role in them — remain a powerful cultural draw.
