Eddie Alvarez Vs. Dustin Poirier Rematch Set For UFC Calgary On July 28

Eddie Alvarez isn’t too keen on a rematch against Dustin Poirier after their initial controversial fight at UFC 211, Poirier looked to be gaining the advantage before Alvarez landed a series of accidental illegal knees which led to the bout being declared a No Contest.

Dustin Poirier revealed, UFC tried to make their fight on different occasions, but Eddie Alvarez turning each one of them down. Moreover, Eddie recently revealed he wouldn’t even think about fighting until he gets a new contract.

Per recent reports from ESPN, Dana White meets “Underground King” Eddie Alvarez in Philly, last weekend to discuss the fighter’s career, who is waiting on a new deal from the UFC. But there is no confirmation about contractual status from Alvarez yet.

As per recent reports from Ariel Helwani, both camps went through ‘minor hiccups,’ but later both fighters confirmed via social media on Thursday that they’d agreed to lock horns with each other.

It looks like everything seems to iron out. A lightweight rematch between Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier is finally set for UFC Fight Night on July 28 in Calgary, Alberta.

Poirier is riding on a three-fight win streak. Meanwhile, Alvarez who lost the UFC lightweight title to Conor Mcgregor via TKO in November 2016 and most recently coming off a third-round KO win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 218 this past December.

UFC on FOX 30 is set to take place at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 28. The main event airs on FOX following prelims on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
