Audio: Eddie Alvarez Trashes Rankings and Wants Winner of Nate Diaz Versus Conor McGregor

Out of all the insanity of the UFC 200 gauntlet, one of the best moments was a fight that you could only see on UFC Fight Pass. Of course, that was Eddie Alvarez dethroning Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC Lightweight championship. Joey Diaz and Joe Rogan’s reaction is still the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen. After a crazy three fight win streak over Gilbert Melendez, Anthony Pettis and RDA, Alvarez wants an easy fight.

Wait… an easy fight? But what about the rankings? What about Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is undefeated and the last guy to rag doll RDA? Or maybe top prospect and sunglasses-wearin’, fire-tongued Tony Ferguson? Well, Alvarez had some things to say on Sirius XM Rush about these rankings.

Alvarez talking points make a whole lot of sense. After all, look at the booking of Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson 2, or even Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz fighting not just once, but twice. Speaking of, Alvarez thinks the winner of UFC 202 should fight him. Ranking be damned.

There are still some “rankings” purists out there, but if the UFC is starting to realize how pointless and laughable the rankings are on their site, hopefully you can too. After all, you can’t deny Alvarez fighting either of those guys would be fire.

Watch when Alvarez first called out the McGregor name in the UFC Fight Night 90 post-fight presser below.
