Conor McGregor always finds a way to stay in the headlines. Recently, rumors about a possible boxing match between McGregor and Logan Paul got everyone talking. But behind the excitement is a bigger question about McGregor’s future in the UFC.

Eddie Alvarez Explains Why McGregor Faces a Hard UFC Exit

Eddie Alvarez, a former UFC lightweight champion, has weighed in on the situation. Based on his own experience, Alvarez does not believe McGregor’s path out of the UFC will be smooth.

“Realistically, I think he still has two fights left on his UFC contract,” Alvarez told MMA Fighting. “I just know how difficult it is, especially when you’re that valuable to a company.

“I haven’t been as valuable as Conor, but back when I was basically Bellator’s main guy, I know how difficult it is to get out of those contracts. They don’t make it easy.”

In 2012, Alvarez wanted to leave Bellator and join the UFC. This decision led to a two-year legal fight filled with lawsuits and counterclaims. It was a long and difficult process, even for someone without McGregor’s level of fame. Alvarez shared his thoughts, saying if it was that challenging for him, McGregor could face an even bigger struggle.

“For him, making the company hundreds of millions of dollars, I don’t think it’s going to be an easy exit,” Alvarez said. “I think he still has two more fights with the UFC, and I’m not sure how old Conor is, but he’s not getting any younger. So it’s going to be tough for him to fight those fights out and move onto another contract.

“So realistically, I don’t know if he could fight BKFC, and if he does, it’ll be maybe when he’s older.”

McGregor is one of the UFC’s most important athletes. His fights generate some of the highest pay-per-view numbers in the sport’s history. With a major broadcast deal on the horizon for the UFC in 2025, McGregor’s presence in the promotion is a key factor.

While McGregor’s unpredictability has always been part of his appeal, Alvarez thinks the UFC will fight hard to keep him. He explained that letting go of someone as valuable as McGregor would not be an easy choice for the promotion.

Meanwhile, McGregor has been making headlines for other reasons. He recently hinted at a boxing match with Logan Paul, sparking more rumors about his next move. At the same time, he criticized the handling of a recent BKFC event. McGregor was frustrated that winners were not given post-fight interviews and made his feelings clear.

As fans wonder about McGregor’s future, it is clear that his next steps will not be simple. Whether he stays with the UFC or takes on new challenges, McGregor will continue to keep the combat sports world watching.

McGregor’s ability to surprise people has always been part of his journey. But as Alvarez pointed out, leaving the UFC could be one of his toughest challenges yet.
