EA launches World Series Superstars for FREE on Facebook

Personally, baseball season just denotes a period of time in which I have to act interested when lukewarm and melodramatic MLB plays dominate ESPN Sportcenter’s Top Ten list every night. Look, catching a small ball in a large field is impressive, but it pales in comparison to a tomahawk slam over three defendser in the NBA. Basketball highlights should automatically dethrone any MLB highlight based on the fact that it looks infinitely cooler on late-night television.

Perhaps one day we’ll get an EA Sports Facebook game, but for the meantime World Series Superstars was just launched on Facebook, marking a revolutionary change from the Facebook apps you’re accustomed to. Check out what a VP of EA Sports said about the new game.

“World Series Superstars will be a compelling new experience for baseball fans,” said Mike Taramykin, Vice President & General Manager of the Social and Digital Game Business Unit, EA SPORTS. “With FIFA Superstars, Madden NFL Superstars, and EA SPORTS PGA TOUR Golf Challenge, EA SPORTS has pioneered new ways for fans to connect to the sports they are passionate about on Facebook. With World Series Superstars, we’re committed to expanding the social category for sports games and providing baseball fans in North America with an opportunity to connect to the sport in a new way.”

Hold up, your ticket to the EA Sports hype train has not expired. There’s still one more stop.

“World Series Superstars is the latest great example of EA SPORTS and Playfish bringing major brands and classically social experiences to Facebook,” said Katie Mitic, Director of Platform and Mobile Marketing, Facebook. “We’re pleased to see EA SPORTS bring the excitement of baseball to the 200 million people who play games on Facebook, and make it easy for them to share the experience with their friends.”

The Facebook game launched today so if you’re one of those guys that appreciate the MLB over stalking a girl you had a crush on ten years ago in high school, go to Facebook and start playing World Series Superstars. You can get the game right here.
