Celebrity MMA fans would surely be tuning at UFC 276 this weekend. Among them is hip-hop artist Drake. Ahead of the fight, Drake has already let Israel Adesanya know that he’s banking on him.

“a light mil”

In a recent video on social media, Adesanya posted his FaceTime conversation with Drake. The award-winning rapper who is also a huge MMA fan told the reigning middleweight champion that he has bet “a light million” on him to defend his title at UFC 276 main event.

“Bro, I already know what time it is,” Drake told Adesanya in the video call. “You know, I put a light million up… A light mil. I had to put a light mil on my brother. Return on investment is a lock.”

Drake went on and wished Izzy “good luck” and reiterated that he has a “deep love and respect” for the champ.

“I just want to wish you good luck,” Drake said. “You know I love you, brother. You’re different. You’re a different guy, bro. I have a deep, deep, deep love and respect for you. A deep love and respect.”

Thrilled with Drake’s support, Adesanya couldn’t help but admit that their brief FaceTime call gave them “the chills” ahead of the fight.

“That was dope,” Adesanya said to the camera. “I like that. He gave me chills. … F*ck that was cool.”

What about the Drake Curse?

While it’s good that Drake has put his money on Adesanya, and the champ is also cool with it, fans who are aware of the so-called “Drake Curse” were bothered. It can be recalled that Drake lost $275k in March after betting on Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. He blew another $400k in May when he bet on Justin Gaethje at UFC 274.

As expected, Drake and Izzy’s FaceTime talk received a barrage of comments from random fans, expressing their concern about “The Last Stylebender” possibly getting jinxed as well.

Adesanya’s UFC 276 main event bout against Jared Cannonier would be his fifth title defense match. Let’s see if “The Last Stylebender” can get it done.
