A welterweight match between Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros has been targeted as the UFC Fight Night 126 main event on February 18 as per MMA Fighting. It also includes a heavyweight scrap between Derrick Lewis and Marcin Tybura.
Cerrone’s plan to return to lightweight has taken a detour and will remain in the welterweight division for his next bout.
Donald won his first four welterweight appearances in the Octagon, but afterward, he has dropped his past three fights. He suffered a first-round TKO loss to Darren Till at UFC Fight Night 118 recently. He lost to Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal prior to that. His most recent win came against Matt Brown at UFC 206 in December 2016.
Meanwhile, Yancy Medeiros is freshly coming off a thrilling “Fight of the Year” candidate with Alex Oliveira at UFC 218. That gave Medeiros three straight victories and four in his past five fights. The 30-year-old Hawaiian has also earned finishes of Erick Silva and Sean Spencer during his current streak.
