Donald Cerrone Gunning For Ferguson Rematch

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is fresh off a somewhat controversial loss to Tony Ferguson. Now, he is looking to get the loss back.

When Cerrone fought Ferguson at UFC 238, everybody was expecting violence. Subsequently, that is what the fans got. The two went at it for two whole rounds of stand up action.

It appeared to be a round a piece going into the third round. However, the momentum was with Ferguson, as he had been busting Cerrone up. The appearance was that Cowboy had a broken nose, as he headed back to his corner. Unfortunately, Cerrone tried to clear his broken nose, resulting in his sinuses filling with air, swelling his eyes shut.

Now, around a month later, Donald Cerrone wants to run it back. He spoke to MMAJunkie about what he wants next.

“Tony Ferguson rematch, I’m begging for it. August, hopefully no later than September. I can’t fight any later than September, because now I’m running into not being able to get two more at the end of the year.”

Donald Cerrone has bounced around between lightweight and welterweight, in recent years. Most recently, he dropped back down to 155, and had gone on a tear. Before losing to Ferguson, he had been on a three fight winning streak, two of which at Lightweight.

It’s impossible to argue that Tony Ferguson should be fighting the winner of the UFC 242 main event. However, a rematch with Donald Cerrone would likely be fun to watch.
