Dominick Cruz Out Of The Fight Versus John Lineker At UFC 233 Due To An Injury, Cody Garbrandt Could Step In As A Replacement
MMA Brasil’s Tarso Doria announced “The Dominator” is injured again. Dominick Cruz won’t be eligible to fight John Lineker at UFC 233! Cody Garbrandt might step in as a replacement.

The former UFC Bantamweight champion is a great fighter. Yet, his injury issues started since TUF 15 in 2011 where he coached his team against Urijah Faber. He was slated for the clash with “The Californian Kid” at UFC 148. Yet, Cruz tore his ACL and underwent surgery.
Dominick Cruz (22-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) was set for the fight against Renan Barao at UFC 169 but torn his groin and didn’t fight again. Later he vacated UFC Bantamweight title. He won Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 178 but later torn ACL in his other leg. One of the most dominant UFC fighters was sidelined during the whole 2015!
Cruz fought three times during 2016. He won TJ Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 81 on January 17, 2016, to regain UFC Bantamweight title. He successfully defended it against Urijah Faber at UFC 199 on June 4, 2016, via unanimous decision. In his last match, “The Dominator” was defeated to Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207, where he lost via unanimous decision.
Unfortunately, Dominick Cruz broke his arm and had to pull out of the match against Jimmie Rivera at UFC 219.
UFC 233 looked like a strong card but its main event, the super-fight between Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw, was moved to UFC Fight Night 143. John Lineker Vs Dominick Cruz won’t happen too. So UFC needs to look for a replacement.
Cody Garbrandt comes up as a possibility. Yet, MMAJunkie’s John Morgan contacted Cody’s camp. It looks like “No Love” recovers from a hand injury, and can’t return before March 2019.
