Dominick Cruz Wants Rematch With Henry Cejudo ‘When He Gets His Sh*t Together’

Cruz wouldn't mind welcoming Henry Cejudo back to the Octagon.

Henry Cejudo is looking for a title shot upon his UFC return. Let’s just say Dominick Cruz isn’t a fan of that.

Now, ‘Triple C’ isn’t the only fighter that thinks they are deserving of a title shot. There’s been quite a few, with Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw asking for a fight with the champ Aljamain Sterling.

Get To The Back Of The Line, Cejudo

However, former bantamweight king Cruz doesn’t think Cejudo should be at the front of the line for a title opportunity.

“Look at all of these people who believe they deserve something,” Cruz told The Schmo. “You’ll never hear me say I deserve anything. I’m responsible for everything I create. So, if I don’t get the shot, I don’t get the shot. I’m beating the people I need to beat. I’m on a two-fight win streak.

“We’re naming people who haven’t even been in the USADA testing pool for over a year,” Cruz referenced Cejudo. “So people who have been out of the USADA testing pool— why are they even in the debate for a title? That doesn’t make any sense to me. So the only people in a debate for a title are the people who have been actively putting their careers on the line. That’s everybody who has been in the division actively.

“If you haven’t been active in the division, get to the back of the line, period.”

Cruz Wants To Compete Against The Best

Unlike Cejudo, Cruz has been active since their fight in 2020. ‘The Dominator’ would score two decision victories and is also trying to make his case for a high-stakes fight. One of those big matchups on his mind is a rematch with Cejudo.

“The bottom line is you gotta keep competing. Nobody deserves any of these titles. You have to earn them. I’ve earned those things. And so I gotta keep adding to the things that I’ve done and I wanna compete against the best.

“I wanna move up, give me some somebody in the top five,” Cruz continued. “Give me an Aldo. Give me a Petr Yan. Give me an Aljamain Sterling. You know what? Give me the rematch with Cejudo when he gets his shit together. I don’t care. Like let me be the first person he faces till he gets right back in the division. If he wants, I got no beef with him.”
