Did TJ Dillashaw steal his new tattoo design from Cody Garbrandt? MiddleEasy investigates this potential snake in the grass move.
Following his knockout loss to TJ Dillashaw in 2017, Cody Garbrandt made a bold statement of affection, by getting a tattoo of his wife’s face in a tigress headdress on his leg. Somehow, no matter how much money Cody makes though, he can’t seem to get a decent tattoo.
Flash forward to March 6th 2019, and you may think you see Cody’s tattoo getting touched up, and looking better. Don’t get confused though, as this is not the same tattoo! Former teammate, turned rival, TJ Dillashaw appears to have done the exact same thing, getting his wife’s face tattooed on his leg, wearing an eerily similar tigress headdress, following his knockout loss to Henry Cejudo in January.
Comparing the two, it is easy to see which one is done better. However, to anyone who does not have a tattoo, essentially copying someone else’s tattoo is a cardinal sin. Sure, TJ’s may have more detail; a bit of war paint on the face, nice touch of matching green eyes on the tiger and portrait, even what appears to be a tiara on top of the tiger. Unfortunately, the comparisons are too overwhelming to deny: TJ Dillashaw copied Cody’s tattoo idea.
In his Instagram post to show off his new ink, Dillashaw stated that he intends to get more work done on it. He would like to add a portrait of his son, next to the mother. Perhaps, if he gets enough work done on the piece, it may be able to disguise the similarities between his and Cody’s tattoo, but for now we are only subject to the observations available to us!
H/T to @Vorpality for the find
