UFC Puts on Promo Event to Hype Diaz vs Masvidal

Get your popcorn ready. UFC 244 is gearing up to be one of the most special cards in UFC history. Featuring two of the promotions biggest ‘BMFs’ in Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal, fans can’t wait until November 2nd.

The promotion is also excited about the event. So excited, that they’re putting on a pre-fight press conference where the two fighters will be face to face. They announced the event via social media.

The UFC announced a press conference on Twitter. Open to the public, the event will be held on the rooftop at 17 in New York City. Doors open at 6 pm EST and the event will start at 7 pm EST on September 19th.

‘BMF’ Title Implications

The two men won’t be fighting for UFC gold in the main event. Instead, they will be competing for the ‘BMF’ title. For the first time ever, the UFC will be headlined by a fictional title that has indeed been confirmed by UFC President Dana White. Whether an actual belt will be made or defended is up for question but it’s confirmed that the title of ‘BMF’ is on the line. Especially because the UFC recently tried to trademark the term for exclusive use in the company.

Details have not been released on if any other fighters on the card will be featured in the press conference.

Other confirmed bouts on the 244 card are the following:

(BMF title fight) 170 lbs: Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal
185 lbs: Kelvin Gastelum vs. Darren Till
265 lbs: Blagoy Ivanov vs. Derrick Lewis
205 lbs: Corey Anderson vs. Johnny Walker
135 lbs: Katlyn Chookagian vs. Jennifer Maia
170 lbs: Vicente Luque vs. Stephen Thompson
185 lbs: Krzysztof Jotko vs. Edmen Shahbazyan
170 lbs: Lyman Good vs. Chance Rencountre
145 lbs: Julio Arce vs. Hakeem Dawodu
265 lbs: Andrei Arlovski vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik

What To Expect

Fans know that the persona of Diaz could very well end up with him appearing late to the pre-fight press conference. Perhaps Nate may not show up at all. If indeed he does, fans can expect one of the most legendary press conferences of all time.

Both Masvidal and Diaz ordinarily prefer to do all their ‘talking’ in the cage. However, both have the swagger and wit to go back and forth and raise the excitement for the fight another level.
