Heavyweight fan favorite Derrick Lewis has been known to beef with people for some pretty interesting reasons. It seems that this does not stop with his next opponent, Curtis Blaydes.
No matter what, when Lewis fights you know that something wild is going to happen. Whether he is taking off his shorts to breeze his man marbles, or he’s getting tired of Daniel Cormier’s disrespect towards Popeye’s Chicken, he always finds a way to entertain. This translates into his fighting style too, as the heavyweight is always willing to scrap and fight until someone is unconscious.
Derrick Lewis Is Jealous Of Curtis Blaydes’ Hair
There are a lot of things that Derrick Lewis can do, but growing his hair out is not one of them. The follicly challenged heavyweight is a little bit perturbed at the fact that his opponent for this weekend’s UFC Vegas 15 main event bout, Curtis Blaydes can grow and style his hair. According to a recent interview, this is the whole reason that Derrick wants to fight him; simply out of jealousy.
“Forget him man, he needs to go bald,” Lewis said. “I can’t grow my hair, so I’m hating on him because he’s got hair. That’s the reason I want to fight, because he’s got hair. I want to cut his hair for him.”
Gameplan Is To Win By Decision
All jokes aside, Derrick Lewis will be taking on one of the most dangerous wrestlers in the heavyweight division when he faces Blaydes. The general consensus is that Curtis will look to hold Derrick down for all five rounds, but The Black Beast begs to differ. He said that he and his team feel that if they can secure the takedown and get top position, things will go well for them on Saturday, so it will be him who is spamming for takedowns.
“The thing about that is that I’m going to be taking him down and lay on him for five rounds,” Lewis explained. “That’s the gameplan, to take him down and win by decision. That’s the gameplan.
“The striking is there,” Lewis continued. “But we feel that we could be more dangerous on the ground. That’s what we feel like better suits us for this matchup.”
Derrick Lewis is quite the character, to say the least. It will be interesting to see how he fares against Curtis Blaydes this Saturday night.
