Derek Brunson raised a lot of money for Cain Velasquez.
The MMA community has really shown up and shown their love for former heavyweight champion Velasquez. UFC president Dana White, Ronda Rousey, Daniel Cormier, Khabib Nurmagomedov are just some of the names that have shown support.
Former rival Junior Dos Santos also wrote a very heartfelt message yesterday.
$10,000
No. 4 ranked middleweight in the UFC, Brunson is the latest fighter to help Velasquez. Earlier this week, he announced that he was selling “Free Cain Velasquez” t-shirts through his website. Well, he raised $10,000 that will be given to Velasquez’s family for his legal fees.
On Friday, Brunson tweeted out a picture of him holding a $10,000 check and his child.
He also wrote, “As a father I feel you Cain. The MMA community got your back! 10k in 2 1/2 days sent to his wife!”
This week, Velasquez was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he chased down the man who allegedly molested a family member believed to be Velasquez’s daughter, possibly more than 100 times. However, Velasquez ended up shooting the alleged molester’s father in the arm.
