Demetrious Johnson Says Winning All Other World Titles Is What ‘Really Makes Me Excited’

Demetrious Johnson Has An Idea How To Cement GOAT Status

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will look to defend his belt for the 12th consecutive time in a rematch against Henry Cejudo this Saturday (Aug 4, 2018) from Staples Center Los Angeles California.

In their first encounter back in 2016, Johnson won via first-round TKO over out Cejudo. ‘Mighty Mouse’ has solidified his position as the greatest flyweight in UFC history, and there is not much left for Johnson to accomplish in his division after the rematch promotion needs him to fight outside his division.

Earlier this year, a super fight proposed with the vision of Johnson defending his crown against the bantamweight champion or going back up to his old division to possibly become the third ever two-division champion simultaneous. However, negotiations went dormant, and a price has to be agreed upon, with that reason both stars move on to defend their respective belts at this Saturday’s UFC 227 PPV event.

Conor Mcgregor and Daniel Cormier are two fighters on UFC roaster who held the honor of holding titles in two division simultaneously.

“Mighty Mouse” who would instead switch to different promotions to collect all of the other organization’s titles is a new and exciting idea but for that Johnson has to depart UFC first right.

“If I was to go out and collect all the belts, now that’s something that’s like, ‘Okay, I’ve proven that I’m the best,’” Johnson toldMMA Junkie. “If I was to go to ONE Championship, win the flyweight division there. Go to RIZIN, win the flyweight division there. And then go to Bellator … win the belt there. Now this speaks volumes. For me to have every unique looking belt around the world, that’s what gets me excited if you really want to know. That’s where it’s like, ‘You have me interested now.’”

Johnson achieved his long-held goal of breaking Anderson Silva’s UFC mark for consecutive title defenses after submitting Ray Borg at UFC 216, giving him 11 successful title defenses.

Whatever is next for ‘Mighty Mouse’ is all depend on if he gets through Cejudo for a second time at UFC 227.
