Demetrious Johnson doesn’t want any of that “gay sh*t” in his house.

During a recent appearance on the Outta Pocket podcast hosted by former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, ‘Mighty Mouse’ spoke about homosexuality in his family—specifically about his relationship with his brother who is attracted to other men.

Johnson suggested that “it’s a hard subject” to broach because he likes to “keep it real”—whatever that means in this particular situation.

“My sister, she was a lesbian. I have a brother, he likes men and it’s a hard subject because I keep it real,” Johnson said. “I tell my brother all the time, ‘Don’t be coming over here with all that gay sh*t.’ I told my kids that too. I tell them. And he goes—because I have two twin brothers—and he came out. We knew he was gay to begin with. We didn’t care. We still love him.

“We’ll be hanging out playing video games and he’ll be like, ‘I’m a bad b*tch.’ It’s like, you definitely ain’t beaten me in Street Fighter VI. Next thing you know, we’re hanging out and he goes, ‘I’m still the same, I just like men.’ Yeah, that’s fine, we don’t have a problem with that, but my kids are coming up. They’re around my brother and they’ve seen the other twin who’s with a woman, but they haven’t seen my brother with his partner and when that time comes, [I’ll explain] that he is an adult, he has chosen to love another man, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but you guys are too young decide.

“So when my kids get next to my brother and they see that—’Dad, he’s kissing another man’—I say that’s okay. That’s what he chooses to do, but you guys are too young to make that decision. When you guys are 18, 19, 20, 21, you can do whatever the f*ck you want. You’re out of my house, but right now you don’t know what you like.”

Fight Fans Accuse Demetrious Johnson of Being a ‘Homophone’ Following Comments on RGIII Podcast

Unsurprisingly, Johnson’s comments sparked a variety of reactions on social media. Many of them appreciated ‘DJ‘ for his candid take, others lambasted the flyweight legend for spreading homophobia.

“I watched the video after seeing your comments to watch and not pre-judge,” one user wrote. “Gross. People don’t choose to be gay. Being around gay people doesn’t “persuade” anyone to be gay. Sitting and laughing at his words and posting to millions makes you complicit in spreading homophobia.”

“So he’s a homophobe even with gay siblings?” another added.

“This is all over the place, and it seems like nobody in that room is equipped to have a grown-up, intelligent discussion on the subject at hand,” a third said.

“If I was one of his siblings this would’ve been my cut off from him, he secretly (not so secret now) disapproves of them and by that statement sounds like he wouldn’t have put up a fight if his parents did that to them,” a fourth wrote.
