Demetrious Johnson has made a shocking revelation about his brain.
Older but smarter
Speaking on Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, “Mighty Mouse” revealed that he took part in a brain study for athletes for the better part of his pro MMA career. Despite taking blows in the head from fighting, Johnson was stunned to learn that his brain did not incur any damages. If anything, it even improved.
“I’ve been part of a brain study for fighters since 2012, where the Cleveland Clinic want to get athletes in who do combat sports, they want to see the life span of a brain to see how it deteriorates or how it evolves over the course of the years of an athlete. So, I’ve been doing that every single year.” Johnson revealed.
“After doing the whole testing from 2012 to 2023, he (the doctor) looks at my brain scan and goes, ‘Demetrious, your brain has not aged one bit out of your entire career and you’ve obviously gotten smarter, you read more eloquently, you enunciate your words better than you did in 2012… You’re lucky’,” he added.
😳📊Studies showed that Demetrious Johnson's brain not only wasn't harmed by strikes during his long career, but it actually started working better.

Demetrious called it quits
Johnson’s pro MMA career spanned from 2009 to 2023. He reached the zenith of success during his time with the UFC where he became the most accomplished flyweight champion in the promotion’s history and later with ONE Championship where he became a celebrated bantamweight champion.
After tallying a remarkable 25-4-1 pro record, “Mighty Mouse” decided to finally hang his gloves and officially announced his retirement from MMA at the recent ONE 168 in Denver. However, fans might still see Johnson compete in high-level grappling tournaments as he seems to have found a new lease on life in the sport.
