Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo shared the aftermath of a serious car accident in his hometown of Belem, Brazil, where his vehicle flipped multiple times after being struck by another car.

The Brazilian star posted a video on Instagram showing the destroyed car and explained what happened in his own words.

“Thank God for the deliverance. I had an accident today,” Figueiredo wrote. “I was following on Quintino Bocaiuva Street, going towards Gentil Bitencourt. A lady at high speed, apparently seemed to be on the run, emerged from a secondary street, named Caripuna, hitting the middle of my vehicle, doing the car that I had flipped over several times.”

Figueiredo later spoke with MMA Fighting, confirming he was the only person inside the car when the crash occurred. Despite the frightening scene, he walked away completely unharmed.

“I was alone in the car,” Figueiredo said. “My car is bulletproof and thank God nothing happened to me.”

Footage shared online showed his Land Rover severely damaged and resting on its side. Local media reported that emergency services arrived quickly at the scene, though Figueiredo did not require medical treatment.

Recent comeback win in Rio

Just weeks earlier, the Para native had returned to competition at UFC Rio, defeating Montel Jackson by unanimous decision in the co-main event. The win ended a two-fight skid against Petr Yan and Cory Sandhagen, putting the former flyweight champion back on track in the bantamweight division.

Figueiredo, who holds a professional record of 25-5-1, has not yet been scheduled for his next bout. Still, the accident hasn’t shaken his spirit, and he’s expected to return to training after a short recovery period.

After the frightening crash, Figueiredo expressed deep gratitude to God and his fans for their support. While the collision left his car beyond repair, the 36-year-old made it clear that he considers himself incredibly fortunate.

The UFC veteran’s close call serves as a reminder of how quickly life can change — even for elite athletes used to living on the edge. For now, the Brazilian fighter says he’s just thankful to be alive.
