A lightweight bout between Jared Gordon and Grant Dawson is taking place now (Saturday, Apr. 30, 2022) at UFC Vegas 53.
Round 1
Gordon misses a leg kick. Dawson lands a front kick to the body. Gordon continues to look to attack the leg. Dawson looks to trip Gordon, but Gordon reads it and takes Dawson down. A scramble sees them return to the feet. Dawson misses a spinning wheel kick. Dawson shoots and gets Gordon down, but Gordon rolls with it and separates. Gordon lands a couple of hooks. Dawson times a takedown well and gets the hooks in very quickly as he takes Gordon’s back. Dawson is landing strikes. Gordon looks unable to get out of this position as he continues to absorb a number of strikes to the head. The round comes to an end.
Round 2
Gordon misses a left hook. Dawson avoids a head kick. Gordon blitez forward but Dawson shoots and gets him down. Dawson gets the hooks in right away and despite some fight from Gordon, Dawson manages to fully take his back and we’re back to where the fight was in the first round. Gordon eventually scrambles and gets to his feet. However, Dawson continues to look for another takedown. Gordon separates and now looks to start landing strikes. He partially lands a head kick as Dawson is backing up. Gordon lands an elbow in the clinch. However, Dawson shoots and gets him down once again. He keeps him down until the rest of the round.
Round 3
Gordon misses with some hooks. Dawson shoots but it’s stuffed. Dawson lands a right, but Gordon eats it. Dawson shoots but it’s stuffed again, but Gordon lands some big shots while Dawson is on the ground. Gordon looks to put the pressure on, but Dawson shoots again. Gordon is taken down but gets to his feet. The action is stopped for a moment after an accidental groin shot on Dawson. Dawson looks tired, but he continues to look for the takedown. Dawson misses a spinning backfist and slips. Gordon goes to the ground, but Dawson shoots for the leg. They get to the feet and are clinched against the fence. Dawson shoots again. Gordon defends and lands some shots. However, Dawson scrambles and takes him down. He quickly takes Gordon’s back and sinks in the rear naked choke to get the tap!
