Liverpool native Darren Till failed to make weight at Saturday’s weigh-ins, came in heavy at 174.5 pounds. UFC officials given him an extra hour to make weight after Till had to deal with a “family emergency.” Unfortunately, he was only able to get down to 174.5 pounds for the welterweight contest. As a part of an agreement, Till agreed to relinquish 30 percent of his fight purse to Stephen Thompson and should make under 188 pounds at 1 p.m before the fight.
Till was forced to re-weighs again hours before his meeting with No.1 ranked welterweight Stephen Thompson in the main headliner of UFC Fight Night 130 on tonight at the Echo Arena, and he hit the scale at 187.3 as per a report by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani. Media was not allowed during Till’s final weigh-ins, UFC officials took the footage.
