UFC heavyweight champ Jon Jones delivered a stunning spinning back kick to Stipe Miocic’s ribs, securing a memorable victory at UFC 309 on Saturday night.
While many call him the greatest MMA fighter ever, not everyone is convinced.
Dillon Danis voiced his opinion, likening Jones to a famous boxer and questioning his legendary status.
Dillon Danis calls Jon Jones the Floyd Mayweather of MMA
Dillon Danis, a teammate of Conor McGregor, shared an old picture with Jon Jones after Jones successfully defended his heavyweight title. He wrote, “Crazy how this little fan girl who asked for a picture all those years ago turned into a decent fighter.”

Danis, who hasn’t fought since 2018, then compared Jon Jones to Floyd Mayweather, but not in a flattering way. He feels Mayweather’s perfect 50-0 record was built by fighting opponents who were either past their prime or too young.
“Jon Jones is the Floyd Mayweather of MMA,” Danis wrote on X.
Think about it—he’s never fought any fighter in their prime. It’s always been either too early or too late. He’s made a career out of perfect matchmaking.
“Think about it and tell me I’m wrong?”

Jon Jones said a lot before UFC 309 that he might stop fighting after his big win. But after the fight, instead of retiring, he kept calling out Alex Pereira, who holds the light heavyweight title. He also didn’t seem too interested in fighting Tom Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champ.
“I’m not really worried about the Tom fight, but I am really worried about the Pereira fight – that’s what I want to do,” Jones said at UFC 309 post-fight press conference. “That’s what I want to do and if the UFC wants to have me back, then I think that’s the fight that they’ll make.
“I have been really clear about my intentions, that’s what I want, and I mean, I just feel like anybody would understand that at this point… I’ll retire the heavyweight belt if I have to, give the guy [Aspinall] what he wants.”
“I just feel like I’m at a place now where I want to take what I find to be super-fights… I don’t want to fight dangerous up-and-comers anymore, I want to fight dangerous and established champions.”
Dana White doesn’t want to make Jon Jones vs Alex Pereira happen next.
Instead, Dana is going to work hard over the next few months to show Jon that fighting Tom Aspinall will be a big deal. It will help Jon’s career and make him a lot of money.
