Grappling Standout Danielle Kelly Signs With ONE Championship, To Make MMA Debut

Kelly will take part in grappling matches but will eventually make her mixed martial arts debut under the Singapore-based promotion.

Danielle Kelly

Danielle Kelly is one step closer to making her mixed martial arts debut.

The grappling standout took to Instagram on Friday to announce that she had signed with Singapore-based ONE Championship.

She will join the Evolve MMA gym but will seemingly take part in grappling bouts for now. Whenever she is ready to compete in MMA, it’ll be under the ONE banner.

“Happy to announce I am officially a @onechampionship athlete. I am also proud to be apart of @evolvemma. I’ll be doing grappling bouts under them and when I’m ready to do MMA they’ll be the promotion I’ll fight under.

I can’t put into words how much this means to me. I try my best to be the best I can be whether that’s on or off the mats. I love what ONE represents. I would like to thank @johnnylaw845 @smashpassjay @silverfoxbjj for helping me with this process. I am grateful to be surrounded by amazing people. Thank you @yodchatri for this opportunity and am looking forward to doing great things with ONE.”

There is no exact timeline for when Kelly’s MMA debut will take place.

Danielle Kelly Recently In The Spotlight

Kelly, of course, was most recently in the spotlight when she headlined the FURY Grappling 3 event in December against former UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza.

Originally booked to face Rose Namajunas, Kelly came out on top after an accident clash of heads led to Esparza suffering a deep cut which ended the contest.

Kelly can certainly expect a lot more of that when she finally steps inside the cage for MMA fights on a regular basis.
