Daniel Marcos is walking into PFL Tampa with the kind of career whiplash that makes this sport feel like a cold business wearing four-ounce gloves. The 33-year-old Peruvian bantamweight went 5-1 in the UFC, finished Miles Johns in November, waited for the next call, and then got told there would be no new deal. Now he has PFL Tampa on August 22 and Magomed Magomedov standing across from him.
Marcos did not dress the UFC split up like some grand mystery solved behind the curtain. In a new interview, he said the decision still makes no sense to him because the resume was not exactly screaming for the eject button.

Instead, his UFC run ended in late May after the promotion chose not to renew his contract.
