Daniel Cormier Dismayed Over Oddsmaker’s Low Balling against Stipe Miocic At UFC 226
UFC champion Stipe Miocic has opened favorite over UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, and “DC” doesn’t think oddsmakers are doing justice appropriately ahead of his UFC 226 challenger showdown against Miocic.
Cormier (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) has a chance to become the only second fighter in UFC history to hold two division belts simultaneously.
Previously, current champion Stipe Miocic expressed the same frustration as if predictions are underestimating his winning capability. But after successfully defend the belt three consecutive times, his current challenger Cormier is underrated, as a current +205 betting underdog.
At UFC 226 open workout scrum, Cormier expressed his dismay but confident that Miocic never fought anyone like me: (via MMAJunkie)
“I’ll tell you this: There are oddsmakers for a reason, They instilled me as the underdog, and it’s great. Stipe Miocic is in a completely different situation. Last time he got disrespected. I feel I’m getting disrespected. Stipe Miocic is fighting a guy that he’s never seen anything like this. There’s odds for a reason, but know that those odds, and all that money that they bet on him, it’s tied to one outcome. The only way he can win is to knock me out. There’s no other way he beats me.”
Cormier is 13-0 during his career at the light heavyweight division, is returning to challenge heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 226.
Cormier has high respect for his opponent but feels Miocic’s past title fights opponents haven’t challenged him in ways he can and confident he can walk with a belt at UFC 226.
“He’s fought some tough guys,” Cormier said. “But Fabricio Werdum, I don’t know what he was doing. He ran right into Stipe’s fist. Stipe might have still won that fight. Alistair Overeem, I don’t know what he was doing. He hurt him then he thought he tapped. Third match with (Junior) Dos Santos, I think Cain Velasquez may have turned Junior into a zombie. He’s a walking zombie nowadays. I love the guy, but he is.
“And Francis Ngannou , he can’t wrestle. So this will be the first time he’s fighting somebody that can do everything.”
Regardless of what oddsmakers predict before the fight, but some underdogs won the matches in the past.
Do you think being the underdog, Daniel Cormier can score a win over Miocic?
