- Daniel Cormier believes Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones is likely to happen soon
- DC thinks “Honey Badger” could force “Bones” to agree to fight him by being disrespectful
Daniel Cormier is confident Tom Aspinall has been doing a great job in trying to prompt Jon Jones to agreeing to fight him and it’s likely to happen sooner rather than later.
Tom could get Jon to say yes
Speaking on his YouTube channel, DC dropped an interesting take on the ongoing Aspinall vs. Jones dream fight. According to Cormier, Aspinall has realized that being too respectful would not bother “Bones” and now he is doing it the other way around.
DC exlpained that by being disrespectful, “Honey Badger” is getting under Jones’ skin which could be the key to making the fight happen.
“Honestly, [Tom’s] frustration might be good right now because in frustration, you start to really show your true feelings on the situation,” Cormier said. “He was very respectful in that interview, and what does respectful get you? It doesn’t really get you all that you want. Now respect’s out the window with this dude, and he’s just telling it how it is.”
“Here’s one thing about Jon Jones, and this can be from me because I’m a person that lived it with him: The thing about Jon Jones (is that) he doesn’t like disrespect. He can’t ignore when you take shots at him. and that’s why, as Chael said, it was very easy to get under his skin,” he continued. “… We, as fighters, don’t like being disrespected, especially one who has had as much success as Jon Jones has had. At the end of the day, Jon Jones is a champion, and he is a competitor.”
“I think we’re closer today to Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall fighting than we’ve ever been,” he concluded. “Because I’m telling you, I don’t know Jon Jones personally, but I do know him in beef and in beef, disrespect is always what gets you closer to fighting him. Tom Aspinall is being disrespectful now, and I think that is going to work to his advantage in terms of getting this fight.”
Aspinall will be ready
Aside from constantly taking shots at Jones, Aspinall also previously came up with a rumor stating Stipe Miocic got hurt in training camp. Miocic quickly dismissed it, though, calling it “fake news.”

As it stands, Jones vs. Miocic is reportedly happening at UFC 309 on November 9th. On the other hand, Aspinall will be the backup fighter and he swore to be ready to swoop as soon as Miocic backs out for some reason.
