Daniel Cormier is headed to the Heavyweight Grand Prix finals

Daniel Cormier just knocked out Bigfoot Silva in the first round with ease (I blame the Eminem walkout music curse). Cormier who was just breaking onto the main card of Strikeforce Challengers earlier this year. Cormier who is no longer the Olympic wrestling prospect out of AKA, this dude is insanely legit and if MMA math was any indication he is officially a top five heavyweight at least. He just destroyed the guy who destroyed Fedor…

The fight started fast with the two heavyweights meeting in the middle early, exchanging blows with Cormier gaining the advantage by immediately stunning Bigfoot with a strike. Bigfoot recovers and Cormier continues to have his way with him on the feet in spite of an insane size disadvantage. Cormier moves fast in and out chipping away and the sizeable chin of Bigfoot, knocking him down and letting him get up at the behest of the ref. They stay on the feet for a few more moments until Cormier catches Bigfoot with a nasty punch that crumples Bigfoot, leaving him to be TKO’d in the middle of the cage.

It turns out Cormier injured his hand on Bigfoot’s skull, hopefully it doesn’t effect his HWGP finals bout.
