Replay: Daniel Cormier embraces the grind all over Anthony Johnson’s face

Daniel Cormier knew that his best chance of surviving the fight would be if he could simply survive the first few minutes against the rumbling Anthony Johnson, and he almost didn’t. Johnson smacked DC around so hard he spun into a pirouette and face planted. AJ followed up with more brutal shots that reminded us that DC walked through the HEAVYWEIGHT division with ease, and then embraced the grind like only he could.

Take down, control. Crush face. Take down, control. Then crush a little more face. Johnson fought back bravely, but his heart and soul were put under the foot of Cormier’s dominant wrestling. Even when the fight restarted in the second, Johnson looked fierce, and Cormier ate shots like they were a delicious bucket of golden fried Popeye’s Chicken, but he would not succumb to the post-Popeye nap that Johnson’s fists were attempting to induce. No. No way.

DC did one of those dig down deep things, and would wrestle Johnson’s soul away from him until he could sink in the choke and back away from his deteriorated body to hold up the light heavyweight belt with much joy.

Then he told Jon Jones to get his shit together, and he’s waiting for him.

That’ll be real nice for the promos.

In the replay below you’ll see pretty much how the fight went. Rumble looked like a monster, but somehow DC would survive and somehow gain control.
