  • Daniel Cormier is bothered by how Alex Pereira seems to be not taking his title fight with Magomed Ankalaev seriously
  • DC thinks Ankalaev is the toughest opponent for “Poatan” in the 205 division

Daniel Cormier voiced his concerns about Alex Pereira’s focus ahead of UFC 313 as he was still seen in Australia, apparently not zoned in on his upcoming title fight with Magomed Ankalaev.

Alex better go to Vegas now

Speaking on his “Good Guy / Bad Guy” show, DC pointed out that he doesn’t see “Poatan” being focused on his next title defense. For Cormier, Pereira must not waste time and fly to Las Vegas as soon as possible because Ankalaev has already been “locked in” for the fight.

Cormier also believes Ankalaev presents the toughest challenge of Pereira’s championship reign and the Brazilian should take it seriously.

“We spoke about this two weeks ago and now my concern level is even higher. This dude was seen in Australia last week still and he was shaking the hand of Drake as Drake went on the stage for his concert… What is Pereira still doing in Australia chill he fights in two weeks… Ankalaev’s already here [in Las Vegas], he’s locked in, I ran into him at the UFC PI last week. He’s honestly so locked in, ready to win this fight against Alex Pereira,” Cormeir said.

“I got back from Australia and all last week, I’m up at three o’clock in the morning. I don’t care that Pereira’s got weeks to get ready, he’s going to be ready and going to be prepared, but even those two to three extra days when he’s adjusting his clock to get back on schedule in Connecticut…he’s going to have to deal with all that travel and all that difference in time… Pereira better get home, he needs to get home and lock in, because he does have the hardest fight of his title reign at this point,” he added.

Alex is focused on another opponent

Prior to DC’s comments, Pereira already verbally agreed to face Dricus du Plessis. This makes it seem like “Poatan” is not 100 per cent all-in on his title fight with Ankalaev.

Cormier’s co-host Chael Sonnen is also convinced that Pereira will leave the light heavyweight division regardless of what happens at UFC 313.

UFC 313 will take place on March 8th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
