Dana White Says UFC Has A Lot Of Respect For Stipe Miocic

Dana White: “UFC Loves Stipe Miocic But He Always Feels We Are Disrespecting Him”

Stipe Miocic has many reasons not to be friendly towards Dana White. There were two big controversies – Alistair Overeem payday at UFC 203, and Brock Lesnar “post-fight show” at UFC 226.

Miocic stated he felt crapped a little bit about the deal when he found out the challenger Alistair Overeem got $800,000 dollars for the match. Stipe Miocic, the champion, earned “only” $600,000. He defended the title in Cleveland, Ohio, in front of his home fans via world-class knockout! And he was rewarded with a smaller payday?!

Yet, Dana White states Stipe Miocic is the one who always feels disrespected. According to him, Stipe might be paranoid. After all, White believes UFC has a lot of respect for Stipe. (via

“I don’t know why, Stipe always feels like we’re disrespecting him, which we’re not,” White told UFC Unfiltered. “We have a lot of respect for Stipe and I think he feels like it took him a very long time to get his title shot and he felt it took him longer than it should have. Then once he got it – every time I turn around he feels disrespected. He’s anything but disrespected. The complete opposite.”

Stipe Miocic got a good payday for the main event of UFC 226 versus Daniel Cormier. But when the UFC Heavyweight title shot was given to Brock Lesnar, who didn’t win since UFC 116, Stipe Miocic was extremely furious. He trash-talked the whole organization! But Dana White looks at that move from the different angle.

“You saw that we set up the fight with Cormier to fight Brock,” White said (transcribed by MMA Junkie). “That would have been Stipe if Stipe won the fight. No disrespect to Stipe. It was just something that was in place before that fight even happened.”

What are your thoughts, is Stipe right here? At least he is not the only UFC fighter who had a beef with Dana White. Is giving UFC title shot to a WWE clown the disrespectful act promotion should be ashamed of? If Dana White could make an excuse for Alistair Overeem, he won’t find one for Brock Lesnar for sure!
