Dana White talks about Cro Cop’s future with the UFC

Watching Cro Cop lose last night was like reading that comic where Doomsday kills Superman. Damn. Last night, a part of me died…so I kicked it under the chair and I think the cleaning lady scooped it up and threw it in the trash. The fight ended so abruptly that everyone in the audience just stared at the replay on that massive 1,000,000 inch HDTV suspended in the middle of the American Airlines Center for some sort of explanation. We thought he was poked in the eye and he needed some time to recover, but the unthinkable happened. Cro Cop gave up. Here is what Dana White had to say after the press conference last night:

“I’m not saying that I’ve ever been at the level of a Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ or any of these guys, but I used to fight. You get to a certain age where you remember what you used to be able to do, and you can see all the openings. You just can’t pull the trigger. I think that’s where he’s at…Junior Dos Santos is a young, hungry, explosive, nasty heavyweight, and Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ went three hard rounds with him. Listen, we all get older. I could see it…It happens to the best of us. It takes nothing away from who he is or what he’s accomplished. We just all get old…I don’t know [about his future]; I’ve got to talk to him. I’m pretty sure that he would say that to me right now, anyway. Mirko and I have always had a pretty good relationship. We’ll see what happens.”

We can only hope that last night was not Cro Cop’s final appearance in the octagon. Judging by the hundreds of people who repeatedly yelled ‘Left High Kick!‘ during the fight, dude still have a massive following. [Source]
