Trump revealed the concept during a July 3, 2025, speech in Iowa, outlining a series of events to celebrate the nation’s semi quincentennial. The UFC fight night, expected to draw up to 25,000 fans, was a highlight.
Unprecedented White House Event
The White House South Lawn, typically reserved for ceremonies and informal presidential activities like football or golf, has never hosted a professional combat sports event. White emphasized the event’s scale, stating:
“It’ll be a pay-per-view card,” White said. “The best card we can possibly put together … We’re going to be on the South Lawn, and literally when you’re watching the fight it will be all the White House here and behind me will be the Washington Monument.”
The octagon will be framed by the White House and Washington Monument, creating a unique visual for viewers.
Planning is underway, with White’s team having toured the South Lawn alongside White House staff to assess logistics. The Secret Service will likely restrict attendance, making the event invite-only with no public ticket sales. White’s team is designing the setup and will meet with Trump in Washington, D.C., to finalize details.
Fighters Vie for Card
Interest from fighters is high.
“Everyone wants to be on this card,” White said. “You don’t even have to know who’s blowing up my phone. You just see it all on the internet. But the fight’s a year away … It’s not even worth talking about, who would be on the card.”
Conor McGregor, sidelined since 2021, expressed enthusiasm, posting “Count me in!” on X after discussions with White. Other names, including Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, are rumored to be interested, though White cautioned, The fight’s a year away. “The entire MMA landscape will be different a year from now.”
The fight card remains unconfirmed, but White promised a lineup featuring top-tier talent, aiming for a pay-per-view event that matches the occasion’s historic weight.
