Dana White Says Ortega Vs. Holloway Title Fight Will Made Immediately, As Soon Champion Healed

Undefeated Brian Ortega produced a lethal combination of punches capped by a thunderous uppercut that dropped Frankie Edgar to the mat. The finish came with 16 seconds left in the first round, in the co-main event of UFC 226 on Saturday night (March 3, 2018).

He is a legit threat to dethrone current featherweight champion, Max Holloway.

UFC president Dana White confirmed at the UFC 222 post-fight press conference that Ortega will indeed be next for Holloway. (Quotes Via MMAFighting)

“The fact we now have a title fight with him against Holloway, you know, Holloway looked incredible against Jose Aldo in his last fight and I’m excited about this,” White said.

“The guy is so incredible and well-rounded,” White said of Ortega. “You’d think when he goes in and fights Frankie Edgar you’d bet anything he’s going to sub him if he’s going to win. And then he goes and knocks him out in the first round. This kid is super talented, has incredible personality.”

UFC 226 is set to take place on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is the date Max Holloway sees for defending his title.

White said the fight will make immediately, as soon Max Holloway’s doctor give a thumbs up for his clearance.

“I just saw [Holloway], he came on The Ultimate Fighter as one of the coaches,” White said. “He looks good, he’s walking good and, I don’t know, we gotta see what his doctor said and when he’s cleared, we’ll make that fight immediately.”
