Dana White Says Ronda Rousey’s KO Loss To Holly Holm Is His “Favorite One”

Dana White: “Ronda Rousey Has Never Fought Anybody Similar, Nobody Gave Holly Holm A Chance”

Holly Holm has proved she is a real UFC golden goose. UFC president Dana White told Tony Robbins that he is the proudest of promoting the fight between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey. And with a good reason – Holly scored a surprising KO! On the other side, odds were extremely big since nobody gave Holly a chance. (via MMAMania.com)

“I would say my best one is Holly Holm versus Ronda Rousey,” White said in a recent interview with Tony Robbins (transcription via MMAJunkie.com). “I did a really good job with that one. When that fight came out the odds were incredibly huge that Ronda was going to win that fight. Nobody gave Holly a chance. I said, ‘Ronda’s never fought anybody like this. Holly striking, her head kicks, her this, her that.’ Even Joe Rogan said, ‘There’s no way Holly Holm wins this fight.’ Not only did we sell the fight, but Holly Holm won the fight.”

Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey fought at the main event of UFC 193 on November 15, 2015, in Melbourne, Australia. As soon as the fight started, Rowdy was trying hard to clinch up with Holm and take her down. The Preacher’s Daughter shocked her with great footwork and superb striking. Whenever Rousey would try to take her down, Holm was using left cross to create the distance. Holm was also sprawling like a pro. Ronda couldn’t wrap hands around her waist.

In the second round, Rowdy was rocked after a barrage of punches. Holly Holm saw Ronda turned her back and knocked her out via world-class left high kick to the chin. After Rowdy fell on the ground, Holm delivered few more hammer fists to secure the victory. It was one of the biggest surprises in the history of female UFC and first MMA loss of Rousey.

Dana White says his job means selling why the outcome of the fight won’t be the way someone expected.

“When we put together fights, my job, because everyone is going to have an opinion right away saying, ‘This guy is going to win!’ My job is to get you to question who you think is going to win this fight,” . “So I need to gather all the information I can get on both guys and then I need to sell you on why this fight isn’t going to go the way you think it’s going to go.”

There were rumors of Rousey Vs Holm rematch but that never happened. Ronda Rousey fought one more time at UFC 207 on December 30, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was demolished by Amanda Nunes, who knocked her out after only 48 seconds. Ronda Rousey is now a WWE champion and a first woman who won both MMA and WWE title.

Do you think Holly Holm Vs Ronda Rousey was the best knockout ever? After all, we can ignore Paige Van Zant Vs Bec Rawlings at UFC On Fox 21. That switch kick hit the temple!
