Dana White: Rafael Dos Anjos Will Be Tyron Woodley’s Next Opponent

Tyron Woodley, a UFC welterweight who is sidelined due to of shoulder surgery, but we know now who will challenge him next.

Now Rafael dos Anjos will get his wish of fighting for UFC welterweight gold, as per White.

The UFC president Dana White said on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Fight Night 124 post-fight show Sunday night where he revealed that former UFC lightweight champ Rafael Dos Anjos is a fight that is next for “The Chosen.” once Woodley heals from a recent shoulder surgery.

Woodley, stated pubicly that he doesn’t think there are any definite contenders in the division right now, but Dana white disagrees and plans on making this fight to happen.

Tyron Woodley injured his shoulder in his most recent title defense, a decision victory over Demian Maia at UFC 214 last July.

“As soon as [Woodley] is healthy, obviously RDA is the fight to make, especially the way he looked in the Robbie Lawler fight,” White said when asked whether dos Anjos or Colby Covington would get the next title shot. “So we’re just waiting for Tyron to get healthy.”

Tyron Woodley, however, still set his eyes to fight Georges St-Pierre. Although the former welterweight champ St Pierre recently vacated the middleweight title he scored from Michael Bisping after four long years of hiatus at UFC 217 and dealing with health issues at this point. Woodley said a showdown with “Rush” is his No. 1 priority.

“I don’t really see a fight that makes sense for me right now,” Woodley told MMAjunkie backstage at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, which hosted the FS1-televised event on Sunday.

“There’s not any clear No. 1 guys. Some guys say RDA. We’ve got a guy who’s bumping his gums; I won’t even give (Covington’s) name any attention. I think the deck needs to be shuffled a little bit more, and maybe a fight that’s more substantial for my career and my legacy will present itself.

“I’m not going to say (dos Anjos and Covington) need to fight. Fall back, take a seat. I’m not going anywhere. I’m here for a while. I’m not on the cusp of giving this up. One by one, everybody will get their chance to see what it’s all about. But I really want to fight Georges St-Pierre.”

“If he’s still fighting, he needs to come and see me,” Woodley said.

Dos Anjos last destroyed Robbie Lawler by dominant unanimous decision in the main event of UFC on FOX 26 in Winnipeg, last month.

Woodley said a fight with GSP is one that will secure his legacy as the best welterweight the UFC has ever known.

Do you guys think the matchup between Anjos and Woodley will create fireworks?
