UFC president Dana White seems very interested in making a fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.

Dana White “really likes” McGregor vs. Chandler

The UFC boss was recently interviewed by TMZ Sports and asked about potential opponents for Conor McGregor upon his return from injury.

Despite being asked about Jorge Masvidal, White suggested that Michael Chandler is a name he’d “really like” to see fight the Irishman upon his return instead.

“I don’t know, I really like Chandler vs. Conor after Chandler’s last fight,” White said. “There’s plenty of fights to make, I don’t know if that’s the one, but we’ll see what the landscape looks like when Conor comes back.”

When asked more about the potential fight, White doubled down on how impressed he’s been with Chandler. Especially his last performance. Given both men’s place in the lightweight rankings, a fight between the pair also makes sense.

“I’m just saying after his last interview, his last fight, Conor is ranked number eight, he’s ranked number five, it makes a lot of sense right now.”

Chandler recently snapped a two-fight losing skid with a hellacious knockout of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. It’s arguably one of the best in UFC history.

After the fight, Chandler got on the mic and called out McGregor with a WWE-style promo. McGregor is currently nursing an injured leg that was broken during his last fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July of last year.

He’s expected to return to the Octagon either later this year or in early 2023.
