Dana White Poured Cold Water On Henry Cejudo’s GOAT Talk

UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo shocked the MMA world last night (Sat., June 8, 2019) when he put Marlon Moraes to sleep via third-round TKO to win the vacant bantamweight title and become a fourth UFC fighter to hold two titles simultaneously at UFC 238 PPV event which went down from inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Marlon Moraes took control of the first round as he landed some heavy leg kicks and hardcore right hooks. Cejudo struggled to get through the Moraes assault. By the second frame, Moraes landed a massive kick inside, but Cejudo turns the strategy and showed his real himself. Henry hurt Moraes with a right hand and later moved inside hurled knees and boxing tricks, Moraes survived the round.

Cejudo started the third frame with a big right hand, Moraes kept looking for a head kick, but Henry escaped out every time. Cejudo, in return, landed knees from the clinch. Henry turned the fight into a grappling scene and locked a choke to end the contest, Moraes nicely overcame the situation, but Cejudo keeps the mount position and landed hammer-fist and elbows. Cejudo already put on enough damage on Moraes that referee stepped in and waved off the action.

Following his stunning victory, in a post-fight Octagon interview, Cejudo called himself the Greatest of all time. (h/t MMAMania)

”I am the greatest combat athlete of all time,” Cejudo yelled. “And I just stole the title of best pound-for-pound fighter too!”

No doubt former Olympic medalist and now UFC’s double champ proved his worth and that feat put him above everyone else. Well, UFC president Dana White said he doesn’t agree with the idea at a UFC 238 post-fight presser.

”Let’s just stick with these two weights and then we’ll talk about that stuff,” he said when asked if he’d let Cejudo challenge for the 145 pound belt next. “I heard he also said he’s the pound for pound best in the world.”

”Listen, it’s awesome that he believes in himself like that and he’s so confident,” White continued. “But you gotta be realistic. You’ve got Jon Jones out there. Khabib’s never lost, he’s undefeated. And look at the guys these guys have run through, and look at how long Jon Jones has defended his title. Yeah, so.”

Moreover, Dana White was impressed by Cejudo’s performance and said this guy is awesome.

“I’m blown away by his performance. I’m never gonna doubt that kid again,” he said. “This guy has heard it all from ‘You didn’t really beat Demetrious’ to ‘It was a fluke when you knocked out T.J.’ You can’t deny the guy anymore. He’s awesome.”

Well, few more wins might put Cejudo in GOAT discussion. Henry is now riding a five-fight winning streak and called out high profile names like Dominick Cruz, Cody Garbrandt, and Urijah Faber following his victory.

Do you think Henry is deserving of GOAT status?
