  • Dana White is already looking forward to booking Jon Jones against Tom Aspinall and not Alex Pereira
  • The UFC boss heaped praise on “Bones” and even compared him to Elon Musk

UFC president Dana White discussed why he is more interested in making the Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall fight than Alex Pereira. He also unsurprisingly raved about “Bones'” performance at UFC 309.

Jones vs. Aspinall is the biggest fight in UFC history

Speaking to the media following UFC 309, the UFC boss confidently declared that Jones vs. Aspinall will be the biggest fight in UFC history. Jones has demanded that he would only fight Aspinall if he gets a massive payday.

However, White insists that “Bones” has always been “well-compensated,” suggesting that money won’t be a problem in making the fight with Aspinall.

“It doesn’t have the potential to, it’s gonna be. It’s gonna be the biggest heavyweight fight ever. It’ll probably be the biggest fight we’ve ever done,” White said of Jones vs. Aspinall title fight.

“Jon’s always been well compensated… I would never put his total purse number out there, but it’s f**king massive. The number that he went over tonight, he’s made a lot of money in his career. You don’t fight then disappear in five years cause you weren’t well-compensated,” he added.

Dana is not buying into the Jones vs. Pereira super fight

Jones has already doubled down on his interest in fighting Pereira as he deemed it as the only super fight there is left for him. However, White doesn’t see it that way, ultimately dismissing the entire idea.

“You know what tonight told me. That there’s no f**kling way I would make the [Jon Jones] versus Alex Pereira fight… Jon’s too big, a great wrestler. Did you see how he took Stipe down in that first round?,” White told reporters.

“I like Alex Pereira, I like him personally, but it just doesn’t make sense to make that fight. If they both want it bad enough and they’re both like f**king hounding me or something, then maybe I would do it. It’s just Alex Pereira is killing it. Look at his age and what he’s doing right now, what’s the reason to go up [in weight] and fight a guy who is so much bigger than you and such a good wrestler,” he explained.

Jon is like Elon of the Octagon

White has always hailed Jones as the one and only rightful MMA GOAT. After “Bones'” TKO win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, the UFC chief reiterated his take and even likened Jones to Elon Musk.

“Jon is one of those guys that has the highest fight IQ, he’s like f**kin Elon Musk in the Octagon. This guy is brilliant in there and the things that he pulls off, you didn’t see any of the spinning elbows tonight that he does normally. He did all different sh*t tonight,” White said of Jones.

“This guy’s fight IQ is off the charts. Everybody gonna admit now? That he is the pound for pound best fighter in the world?,” he added.

As it stands, Jones has made it clear that he is totally fine with retiring. On the other hand, White seems excited about booking the heavyweight champ against Aspinall and would be willing to negotiate with “Bones.”
