Dana White is making big promises about Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. On March 21, 2025, the UFC boss told TNT Sports this heavyweight title fight is on its way. Talks have been brewing for months between the champ Jones and interim champ Aspinall. White’s latest words show it’s nearly locked in.

White Locks It In

White kept it clear.

“It’s going to happen,” he told TNT Sports on Friday. “It’s done, but it’s not done. Not done enough to sit right here now and announce it and give you a date. But fight’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of getting it signed now.”

The deal’s almost there. They’re sorting final details to make it real. Jones and Aspinall are headed for the cage soon.

Biggest Fight in UFC History

White’s calling it huge.

“If we pull this off and actually make the fight, announce it and start leading up to it, this will be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history,” he said.

Jones has ruled for years, and Aspinall’s climbing fast. White believes this matchup will top every heavyweight bout the UFC has ever seen.

White’s Been Saying It

White’s stuck to this plan.

“I said it when we first started talking about it and I’ve said it many times in between, and I’ll say it now,” he added. “The fight’s going to happen.”

He’s been pushing it since Jones beat Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November 2024. Even with delays, White’s confidence hasn’t budged.

The holdup is Jones’ terms. After UFC 309, he talked about needing a giant paycheck to fight Aspinall. Some guessed $30 million, but White’s team said no to that number. They’re still working out money and dates. White’s crew is close to sealing it with Jones’ side.

Jones holds the heavyweight crown. At 37, he’s 28-1 in MMA, with his latest win a third-round TKO over Miocic. He grabbed the vacant title from Ciryl Gane in March 2023 and kept it last year.

Aspinall, 31, is 15-3 and owns the interim belt. He knocked out Curtis Blaydes in July 2024 to hold his spot. Both are at their peak for this clash.

When It Might Happen

White’s aiming for summer 2025. He’s hinted at June or July, maybe during International Fight Week. It’s down to signing papers now. Once that’s set, they’ll pick a place like Vegas or New York’s Madison Square Garden. White’s keeping the exact day quiet until it’s final.

This decides the true heavyweight champ. Jones has the main belt, Aspinall the interim one. The winner takes everything. For Jones, it’s about locking his legacy. For Aspinall, it’s proving he’s next. White’s sure this will be the UFC’s biggest heavyweight moment ever.
