Dana White Confirms UFC 244 Main Event Winner Gets BMF Belt

UFC 244’s main event between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz was declared to be for the “BMF” Title. Now Dana White has confirmed that title will come with a unique belt.

Nate Diaz spawned the BMF belt at UFC 241 by saying that he is the “Baddest Motherf—er” in the game. Moreover, he called for this title to be defended against none other than Street Jesus himself, Jorge Masvidal.  Subsequently, the UFC booked this bout for November, at UFC 244.

Following this booking, it was clear that the UFC was intrigued by Diaz’s proposed BMF belt. It was reported earlier this week, that Zuffa was filing trademarks for things related to BMF, and what it stands for. Therefore, it comes as no surprise when Dana White said at the UFC 244 Press Conference that there will indeed be a physical belt.

White started off explaining how the fight came to fruition.

“When Nate did his interview that night, he basically said ‘this is for the baddest motherf—er in the game. So, you know, this is one of those fights that, after that interview, started to build a life of its own through the fans and the media. We didn’t seriously start talking about this fight until maybe a couple weeks later in a matchmaking meeting.”

White then explained that he had the idea to create a physical belt, which he ran by his design team.

“I said to my guys, ‘Listen, tell me if I’m crazy. but what if we think about actually having a ‘baddest motherf—er in the game belt?’

my guys loved it, and we started talking about it, and we went into the design team at the UFC. We started to design it,”

While Dana White said the belt is not finished, he said it will be by the next time he comes to New York. What do you think the BMF title will look like? Is this a one-off, or will this belt be defended?
