UFC president Dana White basically told Bryce Mitchell to keep his money. He’s got this one.
Mitchell Wanted To Donate Half Of His Check To Charity
At UFC 272, Mitchell picked up the biggest win of his young career by dominating Edson Barboza for three rounds. After his victory, he used his post-fight interview microphone time to tell everyone he is planning to donate half of his purse to Arkansas.
“I’m about to show y’all I’m not just good at hurting people,” Mitchell said. “I can help people. Half of my fight purse, $45K, is going to Arkansas children with medical conditions, who have no hope. We will be their hope.”
Dana’s Got This One
During his backstage interview with the media, Mitchell revealed that the UFC president told him to keep his money and that he would instead be donating.
“Dana White came up to me after the fight, and he said don’t give your money, I’m going to give the $45,000,” Mitchell said.
However, the Arkansas fighter said he still would be giving some money away.
“I’m still gonna give some money,” Mitchell said. “He told me, he said, ‘Don’t give any of your money. It’s mine, and I’m gonna take care of it.’ I’m still gonna do something because I need to.”
White told the media that he respected Mitchell’s gesture, but he got it.
“The kid, he’s making $45K/$45K tonight. He’s gonna give $45K to the [charity], and I respect that. And I said, ‘we’ll do it. We’ll take care of it.”
