The UFC CEO jumped in as Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy came together on Friday, August 14, pulling the lightweight pair apart before the stare-down got cute.
The card is set for September 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Joshua Van vs. Alexandre Pantoja 2 headlines for the flyweight title, while Tsarukyan vs. Ruffy sits right underneath it as a lightweight title eliminator, which is exactly the kind of booking where one stupid shove can light the whole week on fire.

Ruffy held a fist out as Tsarukyan moved in, and White immediately closed the gap instead of letting them test each other’s patience. Staff moved with him, Tsarukyan got steered away, and the whole thing ended before anyone could add another infamous weigh-in clip to the internet’s forever folder.
That reaction did not come from nowhere. Tsarukyan’s recent fight-week baggage already had a bright red warning label after his heated UFC 331 booking road and the Hooker headbutt incident from the UFC Qatar buildup. White knows the difference between selling a fight and letting two guys create commission paperwork.
Ruffy has been building his own heat heading into this spot, from the Chuck Liddell-style fight-camp nod to a matchup that can throw him straight into the 155-pound title conversation. Tsarukyan, meanwhile, is still one of the most dangerous lightweights on the roster, and this is the kind of bout where both men have a massive reason to be tense before the cage door even closes.
