Colby Covington Says He’ll Slap Dana, White Responds
UFC Welterweight Colby Covington may have finally bitten off more than he can chew. From his MAGA loving views to his beef with the brass, Colby seems to be making enemies everywhere he goes. Former teammates like Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier can’t stand him. Even Joanna wishes Kamaru Usman will beat him at UFC 245. Now, it seems like UFC President Dana White is over Colby and his antics as well. Especially because Covington said he would slap Dana.
Clearly Colby is nicknamed “Chaos” for a reason. During an interview with Submission Radio, Covington revealed how he feels about Dana White placing the title around his waist. That’s if he manages to get past Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 for their welterweight championship bout.
Colby Rips Dana White
“I can tell you who’s not wrapping it around my waist, and that will not be Dana White,” Covington said. “If he tries to wrap it around my waist, I’m gonna take the belt from him and slap him in the face with it,” ended Covington.
Covington said he would slap Dana in the face with the title when he wins it. The news made waves around the internet. So much so, that after UFC Boston, media asked Dana White to respond to Colby’s comment.
Dana White Responds
When asked about Colby’s comments, Dana had a look on his face implying “I wish he would try that.” Nonetheless, White took a long pause before he answered the question.
“Good luck with that,” said White in regards to Covington’s slap threat. “He’s a big-mouthed f—king idiot.”
Anticipating UFC 245
Although White seems to not be a fan of Covington at the moment, he is still scheduled to face Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 for the UFC welterweight title. Covington has been known to incorporate his persona throughout the media run building up to fights. Jorge Masvidal knew that until Colby finally crossed a line that he shouldn’t have.
This could very well be the same case for White and Colby. Covington could just be running his mouth in hopes to sell more tickets and build his ‘box office’ resume. However, if the feelings exuded are the truth, Joanna and fans won’t be the only ones praying that Usman hears the words #AndStill after UFC 245.
