We could be edging closer to the heavyweight debut of Jon Jones.

That’s according to UFC president Dana White who revealed the former light heavyweight champion is finally ready to compete.

He even has two potential opponents ready — either UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou or former champion Stipe Miocic.

However, nothing is decided yet as far as who Jones will face at this point.

“Jon Jones is ready to go,” White revealed on The Jim Rome Show (via MMA Fighting). “We’re just waiting for an opponent. It’s either going to be Francis [Ngannou] depending on how long his knee is going to take to recover or Stipe Miocic.”

Dana White: Jones Return Is Very Interesting

Jones has been planning his move up to heavyweight ever since vacating his 205-pound title back in 2019 following his win over Dominick Reyes.

Given the long delay so far, many believed it would never happen, especially as Jones has hinted at moving up as far back as 2013.

However, we may finally see it now and White is particularly interested to see how he fares given his long absence away from the Octagon.

That said, the UFC head honcho is confident Jones can survive the ring rust simply because of his all-round ability and talent.

“It’s very interesting because I’m a huge believer in ring rust,” White said. “But for all the negative things you could say about Jon Jones and his personal life and things that have happened, he’s the best. He’s definitely the best of all time.”

Who do you want to see Jones face in his heavyweight debut?
