- Dan Hooker called out Tony Ferguson on social media
- Both fighters badly need a win and are already outside the top 10 of the lightweight division
One thing Dan Hooker and Tony Ferguson have in common is that they badly need a win to end their skid. In March, “The Hangman” made a herculean return to featherweight only to get TKO’d by Arnold Allen in the first round. Ferguson, on the other hand, has lost his last four fights and has now been written off by many as a title contender.
The pair has no known history but when a fan suggested that they take on each other, Hooker acknowledged.
Just say yes
Replying to a fan post on Twitter, Hooker called out Ferguson by tagging his official account, urging “El Cucuy” to “step up to the plate.”
“You wana play ball? Step up to the plate. @Tonyferguson.”

Hooker followed it up after a few minutes and vowed to hurt Ferguson.
“I’ll smash ya face in @Tony Ferguson.”

Battle of the still relevant
As we all know, the UFC’s current lightweight division is stacked with a number of top-grade fighters, especially within the top 10. At the moment, Ferguson is at No. 11 in the rankings while Hooker was just slightly behind at No.13. Should the pair gets the nod from the UFC, the fight could determine who among them is still relevant in the division.
Ferguson is the type of fighter who seldom let such call-outs slide so let’s see how would he respond to Hooker.
